Description

*WARNING: This video contains graphic images of living creatures being extracted from human flesh**

This video takes place in Uganda, Africa on a mission trip with ORU Missions.

Three of the girls on the team had these mosquito-like bumps on their skin (on their hand/arm, back, and inner thighs). These bumps were really hard and hot to the touch. They were also painful. It began to look like it was infected, and it even had a head like it was filled with puss. So, my ATL Brooke decided to squeeze one on Ashley's shoulder. We were all gathered around watching. This white stuff came out. We were all disgusted thinking it was puss, but then we realized that it was moving!!! We all freaked out yelling "get it out of her." The reactions were priceless. Unfortunately, we don't have those on tape.

Anyway, come to find out they are mango fly larvae. The flies lay their eggs in wet clothing sometimes, so if they aren't ironed properly, the eggs arent destoyed. We think they may have came from the beds at one location we stayed at, the sheets perhaps, because two of the girls that got them shared a bed and had ten larvae each in their skin. The other girl only had one. But who knows...

There was a little more footage I wanted to put in there, but I had to trim it down a little bit for Youtube.

This is Team Uganda 2009. We're hardcore!

The cameraman wasn't that great, to be honest. I know it must be painful, but I've seen at least a hundred in a dog...and they barely whimper. I'm not saying they don't have the right to cry, but, dogs are so stoic compared to humans.

My heart go's out to these kids...In a strange place..Away from home and something foreign eating away at your body..I probably would have freaked out and demanded to be airlifted home to the Mayo clinic...These girls were strong in their faith and God helped them help one another...
