Dissecting cellulitis aka- perifolliculitis capitas abscedens et suffodiens is a chronic inflammatory neutrophilic scarring alopecia with an abnormal inflammatory response to staph antigens. There is a propensity for follicular occlusion and dramatic secondary changes to pro inflammatory stimuli such as bacteria, heat, or trauma. This condition causes deep pockets with Purulent discharge that periodically needs drained. This can be a difficult condition to manage with periods of dormancy followed by severe flares with pain.
